Precision AirConvey is pleased to announce its sponsorship of the Capstone Design Program at the University of Delaware and the successful completion of a project by three of its engineering scholars, Matthew Riccardi, William Testa, and Jackson Yeatts. Under the guidance of their faculty advisor, Steve Timmons, these students have developed a tangible solution to a technical challenge at PAC.

These enterprising young adults have designed, built, tested and presented a solution to the unique engineering challenge we posed to them— to significantly reduce static when plastic films are being conveyed by our TrimPAC EZ. By drawing upon their technical and managerial skills as they moved their ideas from concept to reality, this team learned to adapt to changing situations, acquired knowledge and applied it in a practical way, reinforced critical and creative problem solving and decision-making skills, and worked successfully as a team to generate new ideas.

They delivered a feasible and cost-effective solution to the team at PAC during a presentation on December 8 and discussed their processes, roadblocks and successes during their journey to their final result. Questions from various departments at PAC were thoroughly answered. The students acknowledged that their solution may require refinement in the real world, but all agreed this was an incredibly valuable first step towards alleviating a real-world manufacturing issue.
PAC President and CEO, Thomas Embley,PE stated, “This is very exciting. It was 35 years ago I took part in the same program at University of Delaware. That was the beginning of an incredible journey that still brings me fulfillment.“
